Preparation for the Torah (Ha-cha-na La-Torah)
We began our unit that will prepare the students to learn the Torah. This unit includes learning about the Torah, synagogue, mitzvoth and good deeds. We will end this unit with a visit to Wise Temple at Plum st. The students already learned that the Mikrah or Tanach includes the Torah, Neviem and Ktuvim. They learned that this year we will only learn few chapters from the first of the Torah. The students enjoy this subject and always have good stories to share.

They now know to say ( in Hebrew) , we need apples and honey (candles, fish, round challah..) for Rosh Hashanah. We are learning about Tefillah, Teshuvah and Tzedakah for Rosh Hashannah.

The students were treated to a special demonstration by the Chabad Shofar Factory visit. They got to learn how to make a shofar and what makes it kosher. In the meantime, we blow the shofar every morning in our classroom after Tefillah during the month of Elul, and to get ready for Rosh Hashannah. Tekiah, Shevarim, Teruah, Tekiah G'dolah!
We had fun in the Sukkah today:)
We build an edible sukkot, the students enjoyed it very much, and got the chance to shake the Lulav and Etrog. It was amazing!
Today our class was invited to hear the 5th graders reading the Torah.
